In memory of my Sweetie Pawpaw

Tonight I am missing my Sweetie Pawpaw.

I realized just a little while ago that it's the one month anniversary of his death. He passed away on January 29th. He was 87 years old - would've been 88 on February 20th. We used to joke and say that on his next birthday he would be 88 no matter how you looked at it. He found humor in everything!

I know that he is in a better place. I know that his soul is rejoicing. I know that he will no longer have to suffer the confusion, frustration and misery brought about by Alzheimers.

But sometimes when I see his picture I just start to cry. I remember that I won't get to laugh with him or to talk to him again until I meet him in Heaven. He sends me little reminders, though, to let me know he is near.

Pawpaw always noticed when the digital clock read 11:11 and he would point it out to whoever was around. It will always remind me of him. Whenever he sends these little reminders, like he did tonight, my heart becomes filled with joy and I can't help but smile.

I love you sweetie Pawpaw and miss you so much. You are forever in my heart.

Pack your bags, baby...

"I'm shakin' the dust of this crummy little town off my feet and I'm gonna see the world. Italy, Greece, the Parthenon, the Colosseum. Then, I'm comin' back here to go to college and see what they know. And then I'm gonna build things. I'm gonna build airfields, I'm gonna build skyscrapers a hundred stories high, I'm gonna build bridges a mile long... "

George Bailey - It's A Wonderful Life

Travel the world...sounds like a dream! Sadly, like good ol' George Bailey, not all of us can travel the world, but we can go where we can go, right?

Anywhere sounds good to me. It is so much fun traveling to new places and seeing things you have never seen before.

You can travel by plane...

Or you can travel by train...

Or you can travel by automobile...
(see what I just did there - hee hee)

Just pack your bags, baby...

With a little...

Or with a lot!

Shake the dust off of your feet and hit the road, Jack!
There is so much to see in this big ol' world!

They say it's the journey, not the destination.

But if you ask me, sometimes the destination is mighty fine indeed :~)

Happy travels!

Happy New Year!

After an extended break from blogland I have returned!

Did you miss me? I certainly missed you.

Things were busy busy busy around here throughout the holidays. My wonderful Goddaughter, Maya, spent the week between Christmas and New Year's with us. She's a mini version of her mother, my VBFF :), so we hang out, chat and shop like champs. It was a great week!

I have spent the New Year thus far cleaning and de-cluttering my house. I am talking WOW at the clutter! It amazes me how much random stuff I have accumulated. I am always thrifting and junkin' which doesn't help...and yes, it is an addiction, albeit a justified (and really fun!) addiction...I must add new stock to my little antique shop, no? Problem is things must first come home before (maybe) going to my little shop. I come across some really cool stuff ya know (like the two killer rattan end tables that look fabulous in my living room that I paid $5.99 and $7.99 for each...seriously!),

I thought I would leave you with some pictures of things I love (and love to look for while out on my buying adventures). These are the kind of items you will find in my shop (and in my garage, dining room and office waiting to get to my shop :)  All pictures are courtesy of pinterest (my other addiction). Enjoy!
