A Chance of Snow...

It's not even December and old man winter is already knocking on the door. Can you believe we have snow in our forecast here in ALABAMA! I'm so excited!

This is probably more like the only snow we'll see here :)

I love snow! Especially snow in the south. When it snows around these parts everything in town closes get out of school, grown-ups get off of work and everyone goes to the grocery store for bread and milk. We get to stay at home, watch it snow and we get REALLY EXCITED when we can no longer see the grass underneath the snow; An inch or two is practically a BLIZZARD! Everything is beautiful and white for a day or so and then it is gone without a trace.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for snow!

Hope you all have enjoyed this holiday weekend!

Autumn Color

Oh how I love fall. It is definately my favorite season.

On my little mountain in the foothills of the Appalachians here in north-central Alabama the autumn leaves are just past peak. The recent rainshowers have brought out the last and most vibrant, fiery reds of the season.

I love this time of year when I am able to look out of my office window past the fields to the ridge beyond ablaze with color. Soon the tree branches will be laid bare and stripped of their beautiful foliage.

I've been so busy lately that other than looking out my office window I haven't had a chance to enjoy the beautiful countryside that surrounds my home. I plan on enjoying a long walk with a friend on Monday and taking many pictures along the way.

Until then I'll just enjoy these beautiful photos I've collected on Pinterest.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, friends.

All I want for Christmas is a new fireplace...(Okay, really it's just one of many things I want)

If you have been following my blog you know the sad state of my poor fireplace...funky, old brick and an ugly wonky-jonky brown wooden mantel. My sweet hubby began making some improvements on it quite a while ago by tiling the floor in front and around the fireplace. We are planning on covering the (ugly) brick with stacked rock, but the hubby has been busy and/or otherwise occupied for the past three years now. Three years. Really? I am hoping to put a bee in his bonnet with this little post. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have a pretty fireplace and mantel to decorate for Christmas. Here are some of my favorites gathered from Pinterest, always a great source of addiction inspiration...

I like the large mantel and the color of the rock.

I like the traditional mantel and surround against the stacked rock wall. I know the hubs could make something really beautiful.

I definately want built-ins by the fireplace. I like the sconces, too. I would love to have hardwired lighting on the rock wall.

Fuzzy wuzzy I know, but I like the built-ins with doors (I can hide more junk that way!).

The chunky mantel is so cute!

So far this is my favorite. I like the dark mantel, the color of the stone and the wide hearth. Hubby wants the television over the fireplace, too. I like the little recess for the tv, but I would prefer to have a cabinet to hide the tv when not in use.

So what do y'all think? Any advice or suggestions are welcome.

Hoping to have a new fireplace before Christmas!!!

Wednesday Pink Fix

Can you believe it is Wednesday already? Time. Is. Flying. By. Seriously!!! We will be ringing in the New Year before you know it. I've had a busy week thus far and it doesn't look like it is going to let up. I'm getting ready for a big yard sale at my sweet Granny's on Saturday. Mom and my beautiful Aunt Coleen are contributing as well so there will be lots of hands on deck.

I could use a little pink fix to get me through. I came across some beautiful pics of pink and gold on Pinterest. I didn't realize how absolutely beautiful these colors are together...

Pink, gold, glass ornaments, ribbon AND polka dots? I've died and gone to heaven!

I want that bed! Gorgeous!

Pink and gold nursery. I am digging the ceiling.

Pink lemonade with gold star swizzle sticks. How divine!

Happy Humpday!

Harvest Decorations and My Fall Mantel

All of the Halloween decorations are put away (finally). Now it's time to look forward to Thanksgiving. Usually I am chomping at the bit about now to put up my Christmas tree, but not this year. Maybe it's because Halloween was such a huge event with the party and all of the decorations. Or maybe it's that I am really enjoying all of the fall colors this year...the warm oranges, reds and yellows make me feel all cozy and content! I spent yesterday afternoon putting out a few harvest decorations. I have the most difficult time with the mante;. Let me know what you think. Any suggestions? I am trying not to be so "matchy-matchy", but it is apparently against my nature!
